Under Colorado State Statute and BVSD Board of Education policy, parents/guardians of all students will be notified in writing prior to student’s involvement in a health education course of instruction. Our hope is to provoke discussion between students and their families, and allow students to make informed decisions in their individual contexts. But if parents or guardians want to exclude their child from any portion or portions of health instruction on the grounds that is contrary to the religious beliefs and teachings or closely held personal beliefs of the student, parent or guardian, you may do so by completing this form, also available in Spanish.
Please be assured that Boulder Valley teachers receive specialized training in the appropriate presentation of health education topics. Therefore, we encourage parents to discuss their concerns with the health education teacher, school principal, and/or district health education curriculum director before requesting an exclusion.
